The West Papio Trail is one of Omaha’s most varied and picturesque trails with natural landscape, mature trees and several opportunities for visiting parks. Although there is a key link yet to be constructed from 144th Street to 84th Street, the trail still offers long continuous segments that connect to adjacent trail systems. The trail currently lies in two distinct segments which are supplemented by smaller neighborhood trails that wind through tree lined neighborhoods.

The north trail begins at 156th and W. Maple Road as the Huntington Park Trail. The Huntington Park trail runs south approximately 2 miles and ends with as it tees into the West Papio just north of Blondo Street. Don’t be fooled into taking the path back to the northwest. This short link ends less than a half mile from the connection but will eventually be extended to Ida Street as part of the final segment of the West Papio. This winding segment is shaded by a tree line along the West Papio Creek and passes along a linear park which ends at Fountain Hills Park at Pacific Street. From here the trail follows Pacific Street for two blocks before crossing under the street and entering another linear park that ultimately connects to the Zorinsky Lake trail. This north segment of the trail currently ends at its connection with the 144th Street trail.
