Newport Landing is one of the newest editions to the Omaha Trail System. It is bordered by Bennington Road on the south; Highway 36 on the north and 168 Street and 180th Street are it east and west boundaries. This was one of the first cooperative dam projects between the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources and Private Industry.

It is a full concrete trail 10 feet wide. It provides a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Newport Landing features some of the Omaha areas most expensive homes. An excellent trail for bikers and in-line skaters as the concrete is smooth.

This trail is directly across the street east from Prairie View Recreational Area. That may explain why there is no parking, water or restrooms. It is free to the public and there is a public fishing pier located on the north side of the lake. Otherwise all fishing is private to residents only. The trail does make a complete loop around the large 200 plus acre lake.
